What is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy is a complete system of healthcare that is guided by the healing power of nature and is based on the principles of first do no harm.

Naturopaths are concerned with finding the cause of your symptoms.

Naturopathy is about working with you - a unique being - rather than focusing on "curing" disease.

Our understanding is that a human being is not just made up of physical parts, but is a synergy of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual dimensions, including our relationships with ourselves.

The cornerstone of naturopathy is about nurturing the body, mind and spirit. Often the best and longest lasting results occur when you take that extra step to change aspects of your life that are make you unwell or unhappy. To help this process along, or treat an acute health issue, naturopaths sometime prescribe supplements or individual herbal formulas.

As naturopathy is an umbrella term covering many ways of working, the way each naturopath operates is also unique. Jenny focuses on an individual approach to working with clients, which has evolved through her 25 years of naturopathic experience.

Why work with a naturopath?

Working with a Naturopath will empower you to make life choices that will improve your health and your life. Most of all you will increase your knowledge of self and gain an insight into the simple changes that can be implemented to enhance your lifestyle. With a common sense approach to helping you feel comfortable in your body, you’ll be amazed at how feeling healthier can change your life.

What to expect

The first consultation is about understanding you, we will discuss your health concerns and goals and go through your case history. From this information a treatment plan will be formulated and discussed with you. Herbal medicines and nutritional supplements are usually prescribed, along with diet and lifestyle suggestions, and referral for testing may be completed as well.

Your health goals, personal preferences and budget are all taken into consideration with this, so you won’t be given something that you feel is unachievable and the treatment is individualised for you.

After the initial consultation, it’s advisable to fine-tune your treatment plan with a follow up session every 2-6 weeks over the next couple of months. Through these consultations your progress will be monitored to adjust your treatment or refer you for further investigations if required.

Further Information

Jenny has a special interest in gut microbiome is an accredited G.E.M.M. clinician.

What is the G.E.M.M. Protocol?

The G.E.M.M. protocol (Gut Ecology & Metabolic Modulation) is a unique system of health care designed to harness the principles of Nature in helping to restore normal function to human cells. As the function of individual cells returns to normal, so too does the function of the disordered organs and systems that had allowed disease to flourish.

Why is G.E.M.M. different from other gut repair systems?

The initial G.E.M.M. focus is on restoring essential balance with the ecosystem of the gut, rather than on using specific medicines, probiotic supplements or plant extracts to destroy undesirable gut bacteria or other microbes.

Although G.E.M.M. uses several Nature-compatible formulations as medicines to help restore this balance, it relies heavily on specific ‘functional’ foods that send chemical signals to activate protective genes. By ‘talking to’ our genes, these food molecules can beneficially influence repair and minimise the inflammatory processes that lead to disease.

G.E.M.M.’s uniqueness lies in the fact that it is a lifestyle approach that utilises the principles of a branch of Nutrition Science called Nutrigenics. This is the study of how foods and specific food molecules influence the expression of our genes.
